Small plane makes an
emergency landing in the desert near Beaver Dam!
A young pilot and his father were flying from St. George to
Palm Springs on their way home to San Diego when they had an
electrical fire on board. The smoke had filled the
cockpit and it was getting worse. The pilot made the
decision to make an emergency landing in the desert between
Hwy 91 and the Virgin River.
Amazingly, the
two on board were just fine and the plane only suffered
minor damage! The father said he had experienced
rougher landings on a real runway!
My
neighbor, Cecil Cutler, and I were out in the area target
practicing when we saw the plane just after it had landed.
A sheriff deputy and a fire truck were on
site within 20 minutes.
